My responsibilities centre around enhancing and maintaining a legacy PHP codebase that blends various libraries, including components from Symfony and Laravel, without adhering to a single opinionated framework. I work closely with the team to unify our approach, bridging gaps between procedural methods and more modern request-handling techniques. Additionally, I help modernise front-end workflows, which still rely heavily on AJAX and jQuery, ensuring that our code evolves toward cleaner, more scalable solutions.

I contributed to the development and maintenance of its core platform, focusing on building and optimising micro services using GoLang. Enhancing the platform’s functionality and scalability. I also utilised Strapi with JavaScript and GraphQL for efficient content management, and made daily use of tools like Sentry, GitHub, Jira, and Confluence to ensure robust monitoring, version control, and streamlined project management.

This role required a strategic approach to project management, team leadership, and a deep understanding of full stack development, positioning me as a pivotal figure in driving technological advancements within the company. I spearheaded the recruitment and integration of IT talent, ensuring a seamless onboarding process, managing the allocation and retrieval of technological resources. My role extends to system administration, using tools including Azure, Jumpcloud, Intune and LastPass, to maintain optimal performance and security. A key responsibility is leading the design and execution of new features and projects, leveraging my extensive technical expertise to innovate and enhance our offering using GoLang, Python, PHP/Laravel.
